NEW IDEAS BETTER WAYS Edition Number 15
31 August 2018 - Deborah Wilkes
Read all about some new approaches to switching medicines from prescription to non-prescription status in Edition 15 of NEW IDEAS BETTER WAYS, the OTCToolbox Innovations magazine.
Edition 15 discusses recent developments in the US, where the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released draft guidance that should make it easier for companies to switch a broader range of prescription medicines to non-prescription status.
In addition, Perrigo says switching selected medicines is now a key part of its growth strategy in the US. The company, which is best-known in the US as a store-brand specialist, says it plans to offer both the brand and a store-brand.
Edition 15 also looks at the Austrian Self Care Association's (IGEPHA's) model for prioritising switch candidates that could encourage regulators to facilitate more switches. Other countries – particularly small- and medium-sized countries – might also find the model useful.
