France has restricted the sale of paracetamol-based medicines in pharmacies and suspended online sales of analgesics to guarantee availability during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other European countries are also restricting sales of non-prescription medicines.

Sanofi's Consumer Healthcare business reported worldwide sales up by 1.1% at constant exchange rates in the second quarter of 2019. The company said brand divestments and tightening regulatory requirements, particularly in Europe, had reduced growth by around two percentage points.
