Shop Apotheke Europe has released financial results for the first quarter of 2019, while Vitamin Shoppe and McKesson have recently announced senior management changes.
Shop Apotheke Europe up by a third
Shop Apotheke Europe's sales increased by a third to EUR174 million (USD196 million) in the first quarter of 2019.
The Netherlands-based online pharmacy said sales in its DACH segment – Germany, Austria and Switzerland – had reached EUR155 million, up by 29% compared to the same period a year earlier. Shop Apotheke Europe is preparing to launch a markeplace in Germany.
Sales in the International region – covering Belgium, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain – increased by 81% to EUR19.4 million.
Shop Apotheke Europe said the number of active customers had risen by 41% year-on-year to 3.8 million.
Vitamin Shoppe loses finance chief
Vitamin Shoppe has appointed Charles Knight as interim chief financial officer following the resignation of Bill Wafford.
Knight is senior vice president, chief accounting officer at the US-based specialty retailer.
Wafford has joined JCPenney, the US-based chain of department stores, as chief financial officer.
Tyler takes helm at McKesson
McKesson's Brian Tyler has now taken up the post of chief executive officer following the retirement of John Hammergren.
The change at the top of the US-based drug distributor was announced in November 2018 (click here to read the News story).
