Oriola Corporation has recruited a new president and chief executive officer, Zur Rose Group has created the new position of chief technology officer, and Rite Aid has a new chief retail officer.
Oriola recruits new chief
Finland’s Oriola Corporation has recruited Tikkurila Group’s Elisa Markula as president and chief executive officer. She will take up the post in the autumn.
Commenting on the appointment, chairman Panu Routila said Oriola’s performance in recent years had “not been satisfactory” and Markula would be expected to “look for and execute measures that improve profitability and operative efficiencies as well as bring new opportunities for the company”.
Routila said Oriola was already assessing a number of measures including “acquisitions, divestments or other structural arrangements in the company’s core markets”.
Markula will take over from Juko Hakala who was named interim chief executive officer in February 2021.
Hukala replaced Robert Andersson who left his position as president and chief executive officer on 1 February 2021 but remains an adviser to the board of directors until 31 July 2021.
Markula has been president and chief executive officer of paint company Tikkurila since 2018.
Zur Rose creates new position
Switzerland’s Zur Rose Group has appointed Madhu Nutakki to the newly-created position of chief technology officer with effect from 1 August 2021.
Walter Oberhänsli, chief executive officer of Zur Rose, said the company’s technological foundation and digital innovation were of strategic importance as part of its positioning as a comprehensive healthcare provider and leading technology firm.
Oberhänsli added that Nutakki was a “highly-qualified leader in an international environment”.
A US national, Nutakki will join Zur Rose from Nissan Motor Corporation in Japan where he is global head of customer experience and connected car.
Prior to joining Nissan in 2017, Nutakki worked for the American International Group (AIG) insurance company in the US and the Kaiser Permanente managed care organisation in the US.
Nutakki will be a member of Zur Rose’s group management and will help “shape and mould the company’s technical innovation and transformation into a healthtech provider”.
Rite Aid names new chief retail officer
US-based Rite Aid has promoted Andre Persaud to chief retail officer.
Persaud joined Rite Aid in 2020 as executive vice president, retail, with responsibility for orchestrating new in-store experiences and retail operations processes in line with the company’s RxEvolution strategy.
Heyward Donigan, Rite Aid’s president and chief executive officer, said Persaud “has not only proven an effective leader for our retail organisation, but also provides a strategic and steady leadership voice in times of crisis and change”.
Persaud has more than 25 years of retail experience in the US and Canada with a number of companies, including Burlington Stores, Loblaw Companies, Shopko, Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart Canada.
