GNC is offering a range of cannabidiol (CBD) products, Zur Rose has released financial results, and Shop Apotheke Europe has raised funds.
GNC offers CBD-infused products
GNC has introduced 12 topical cream products containing CBD in selected retail locations and online in the US.
The health, wellness and performance retailer is offering Myaderm's CBD Body Cream, CBD Body Cream Double Strength and CBD Sport Cream as well as Physicians Grade's face creams, luxe body lotion, scalp treatment and revitalising shampoo.
“As the market changes, GNC is committed to offering high-quality, innovative products that are being introduced in new categories like CBD,” said Ken Martindale, GNC's chairman and chief executive officer, adding that the retailer looked forward to offering more CBD-infused beauty and skincare products in the future.
Zur Rose's sales up by 28%
Switzerland's Zur Rose Group – the e-commerce pharmacy that owns DocMorris – reported sales of CHF381 million (USD373 million) in the first quarter of 2019. The company's sales, which include the recently-acquired Medpex business, were up by 28.1% compared to the same period a year earlier.
Zur Rose said sales at its German business had increased by 45.9% in local currencies to EUR213 million. During 2018, Zur Rose expanded its presence in Germany by acquiring the e-commerce business of Medpex in a deal worth around EUR120 million (USD135 million) plus earnouts. The company also announced a "strategic collaboration" with omnichannel pharmacy apo-rot.
Sales at Zur Rose's Swiss business increased by 3.6% to CHF132 million in the first quarter of 2019, while sales in the rest of Europe were up by 40% to EUR7.1 million.
Zur Rose recently announced that it was moving into France by acquiring the Doctipharma marketplace from Lagardère for an undisclosed sum (click here to read the News story).
Shop Apotheke Europe raises funds
Shop Apotheke Europe – the Netherlands-based online pharmacy – said it had raised EUR110 million to "fund its continuous growth strategy including taking full advantage of the e-script opportunity, a marketplace rollout, enhanced product offering and general corporate purposes".
