Nestlé targets mobility during ageing
Nestlé has launched a functional food in China that is “clinically proven to enhance mobility during ageing”.
Called YIYANGActive, the milk powder for adults is Nestlé’s first product with functional food approval in China.
Nestlé said it contained a “unique combination of ingredients supporting the three pillars of mobility: bone health, muscle strength and joint functionality”.
The Swiss company noted that cross-functional teams from Nestlé across multiple sites were behind the development of YIYANGActive and the scientific substantiation of its health claims. "This approval is a recognition of the outstanding scientific work done by our teams over a long period of time,” commented Catherine Macé, deputy head of the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences.
The product was developed by Nestlé R&D and then tested in a clinical study in a collaboration between experts from Nestlé and from the Peking University Third Hospital.
"The results of the clinical study showed that the product in combination with tailored physical activity led to a significant increase in mobility of Chinese seniors with joint discomfort and thus improved their quality of life,” said Marie Noëlle Horcajada, the Nestlé scientist who led the study.
Nature’s Bounty expands immune support portfolio
The Nature’s Bounty Co has expanded its immune support portfolio in the US with a dietary supplement called Immune 24 Hour +.
Don Kerrigan, president North America at The Nature’s Bounty Co, pointed out that the newcomer contained “Ester-C, the only ingredient on the market that provides round-the-clock immune support, and is clinically studied to last longer than regular vitamin C”.
Nature’s Bounty Immune 24 Hour + provides 1,000mg Ester-C per serving of two softgels. Packaging carries the strapline “The only vitamin C with 24 hour immune support” as well as the claim “supports upper respiratory health”.
Packaging also highlights that the newcomer contains vitamin D and zinc as well as the herbal ingredients elderberry and echinacea.
“Help maintain a healthy immune system with the only vitamin C that lasts for 24 hours,” is the promise to consumers.
The US-based vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) specialist said Nature’s Bounty Immune 24 Hour + was available on Amazon.com and at Walmart, Costco and Kroger.
