Procter & Gamble has put more than 3,500 of its US products on SmartLabel, an online and mobile platform that gives consumers access to detailed product information including ingredients, usage instructions, and claims.
A number of Procter & Gamble's consumer healthcare brands – including Pepto Bismol, Prilosec OTC, Vicks and Vicks ZzzQuil – are listed on SmartLabel.
Commenting on the move, Procter & Gamble's chief technology officer Kathy Fish, said: "We know people care about what goes into the products they use every day, and we want consumers to be informed and confident in their choice to place Procter & Gamble products in their baskets."
"Using SmartLabel to share our products' ingredients reinforces Procter & Gamble's commitment to transparency," added Fish.
Procter & Gamble pointed out that eight out of 10 consumers globally had cited ingredient transparency as "very important or important" when shopping for personal care or beauty products.
SmartLabel was created in 2015 in the US by the Trading Partner Alliance, an industry group comprising the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the Food Marketing Institute.
Companies with products on SmartLabel include Colgate-Palmolive, Mondelez, Nestlé, Pharmavite, The Clorox Company and Unilever.
