There is a small increase in the risk of cardiovascular problems, such as heart attacks and strokes, in people taking systemic medicines containing a high dose of ibuprofen, according to the European Union's Pharmacovigilance Risk Assessment Committee (PRAC). However, no increase in risk is seen in people taking ibuprofen at the lower doses generally used in OTC medicines.
