Laurie Ann Goldman was chief executive officer of Spanx for 12 years

New Avon and Topix Pharmaceuticals have appointed new chief executive officers.

New Avon appoints Goldman

New Avon, which markets the Espira range of vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) in the US, has appointed Laurie Ann Goldman as chief executive officer with effect from 14 January 2019.

Goldman was chief executive officer of the women's clothing company Spanx for 12 years, and has also worked for The Coca Cola Company. She has been on New Avon's Board of Managers since August 2018.

She replaces Scott White who will take on a strategic advisory role.

New Avon describes itself as "the leading social selling beauty company in North America". It has independent sales representatives in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Topix promotes Wu

Skincare company Topix Pharmaceuticals has promoted Brenda Wu to president and chief executive officer.

Wu takes on the new role in addition to her existing position of president and chief executive officer of Derma E, which was acquired by Topix Pharmaceuticals in 2018.

She recently joined Derma E from L'Oréal, where she spent a decade working with well-known brands such as Skinceuticals, Giorgio Armani Beauty, Lancôme and Kiehl's. Most recently, Wu was US general manager of Skinceuticals (click here to read the News story).

US-based Topix Pharmaceuticals is a portfolio company of private-equity firm New Mountain Capital.
