Bausch gains new board member
Bausch Health Companies has added Andrew von Eschenbach to its Board of Directors with effect from 29 October 2018.
Von Eschenbach was commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from 2006 until 2009, and was director of the National Cancer Institute at the US National Institutes of Health from 2002 until 2006.
Canadian company Bausch pointed out that in 2006 von Eschenbach was in the Time 100, Time magazine's annual list of the 100 most influential people to shape the world.
CHMP elects new vice chair
The European Union's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has elected Portugal's Bruno Sepodes as vice-chair for a three-year term.
He replaces Germany's Harald Enzmann, who was recently elected chair of the CHMP for a three-year term (click here to read the News story).
Sepodes is a member of the evaluation board of medicines at Portugal's National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (INFARMED). He has been a member of the CHMP since 2012.
Amway appoints first-ever CEO
Direct-selling company Amway has appointed Milind Pant as chief executive officer with effect from 2 January 2019. He joins from Yum! Brands where he was president of Pizza Hut International.
Pant will be the first-ever chief executive officer of Amway, which has been family run since it was founded in 1959. He will have a seat on the Board of Directors.
Amway is currently run jointly by Steve Van Andel, who has been chairman since 1995, and Doug DeVos, who has been president since 2002. They will move up to the Board and serve as co-chairs.
The US-based company said in a statement that it would "continue to be family-owned and family-led".
Amway pointed out that Pant had driven Pizza Hut International's growth across Asia and Europe, as well as its e-commerce and digital strategies. Prior to joining Yum! brands, he spent 14 years with Unilever.
