Swedish specialty pharmaceutical company Karo Pharma has announced the "sudden and unexpected" death of its chairman Anders Lönner.
Karo Pharma, which acquired Norwegian consumer healthcare firm Weifa in 2017, said it had achieved "strong and profitable growth" since Lönner joined as chairman in 2014.
Lönner had driven the "successful transformation of Karo Pharma from an unprofitable research company to a profitable specialty pharma company", commented Karo Pharma.
He started his career at Sweden's Astra Pharmaceuticals and was chief executive officer of another Swedish company, Meda, for many years.
Karo Pharma said board member Håkan Åström would assume the position of acting chairman.
Private-equity firm EQT recently made an SEK5.97 billion (USD0.65 billion) takeover offer for Karo Pharma (click here to read the News story).
