Infirst Healthcare has introduced a general sale list (GSL) version of its Flarin lipid-formulated ibuprofen in the UK.
Managing director Andrew Macmillen said the launch of the GSL version would “improve consumer access to Flarin”.
The company said the product name – Flarin Joint & Muscular Pain Relief – had been “carefully chosen to aid consumers in choosing appropriate treatment for their joint or muscular pain without needing to visit the pharmacy counter”.
Flarin Joint & Muscular Pain Relief is available from Boots and online retailers.
The GSL medicine comprises the same 200mg-strength capsules as the pharmacy (P) version. It has the same on-pack claim as Flarin – “Relief from joint pain and inflammation” – but the pack design is red and white rather than blue and white.
A pack of 12 capsules has a recommended retail price of GBP5.29 (USD6.65).
New television advertising campaign
Infirst is backing Flarin with a new national television advertising campaign featuring the slogan “It’s not just ibuprofen its IBUPROVEN”.
As with previous advertising for Flarin, the campaign highlights that “no other ibuprofen has been proven to be more effective for joint pain” and the “unique lipid formulation helps shield the stomach from danger”.
Karen Stoner, Infirst’s director of consumer marketing, said the company was “planning to make significant investments in advertising to support brand growth throughout the rest of 2020” (click here to read the News story).
