Nature's Bounty makes appointment
The Nature's Bounty Co has recruited Ted McCormick as chief financial officer.
McCormick, who was previously chief financial officer of Roland Foods, will report to Paul Sturman, president and chief executive officer of the US-based vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) specialist.
In addition to Roland Foods, McCormick has worked for the Pepsi Lipton Partnership and Ben & Jerry's.
ThermaCare recall in the US
Pfizer Consumer Healthcare has voluntarily recalled six lots of ThermaCare HeatWrap at the consumer level in the US.
The company said products from the six lots had "a potential to leak ingredients that are contained in the heat cell wrap". "The use of a leaking/damaged heat cell wrap could cause skin injuries such as burns/blisters and/or skin irritation on the wrap applied area," commented the company.
AFT's financial results
New Zealand's AFT Pharmaceuticals reported sales up by 4% to NZD38.0 million (USD26.1 million) in the six months ended 30 September 2018.
The majority of this figure was generated in Australia and New Zealand. Sales in Australia grew by 7% to NZD21.6 million, accounting for 57% of the total, but sales in New Zealand were down by 11% to NZD12.6 million, accounting for 33% of the total.
The company said its Maxigesic painkiller combining ibuprofen and paracetamol was now available in 15 countries – Australia, Brunei, El Salvador, Israel, Iraq/Kurdistan, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Serbia, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the UK. Further country launches are in progress.
AFT recorded an operating loss of NZD0.1 million.
Celesio UK becomes McKesson UK
Celesio UK has rebranded as McKesson UK but customer-facing brands such as Lloydspharmacy will not change.
US drug distributor McKesson acquired more than 75% of the shares in German pharmaceutical wholesaler and retailer Celesio in February 2014. Celesio was renamed McKesson Europe in September 2017 but Celesio UK kept its name.
