German industry associations plan to merge

18 December 2019 - Deborah Wilkes

The German Medicines Manufacturers’ Association, the BAH, and the German Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry, the BPI, plan to merge.

Following discussions on options for future cooperation, the executive boards of the two industry associations will propose a merger to their member companies.

The resulting association, said the BAH and the BPI, would represent more than 90% of the pharmaceutical companies operating in Germany.

The needs of member companies would be better served by an even stronger advocacy group, commented the two associations.

Plans for the new association will be presented to member companies over the next few months.

The BAH says it has around 400 members while the BPI says it has around 270 members.
