Early childhood nutrition specialist Gerber has launched an edible teething product in the US.

The company said Gerber Soothe ‘n’ Chew Teething Sticks were aimed at “parents looking for alternative teething solutions that don’t necessarily include plastic or medicine".

Packaging points out that the banana-flavoured product is a “new breakthrough edible teether” containing “no plastic, no medicine”.

Gerber said the grain-based product provided “long-lasting comfort by naturally massaging little ones’ gums with real food as they chew”.

The teething sticks are designed for infants and toddlers aged six months and older. The company said the ridged surface and small size meant the sticks were ideal for a baby’s fist.

Gerber Soothe ‘n’ Chew Teething Sticks are available exclusively from Walmart.com.

Gerber is owned by Nestlé.
