Dr Reddy's has launched a store-brand equivalent to Procter & Gamble's Prilosec OTC (omeprazole delayed-release) tablets in the US.
The Indian generics company said the launch illustrated its "continued commitment to the OTC business as well as the depth and breadth of its OTC portfolio".
Dr Reddy's Omeprazole Delayed-Release Tablets, 20mg, is available in 14 count bottles sold in cartons containing one, two or three bottles. Each bottle contains one complete 14-day course of treatment.
Quoting data from IRI for the 52 weeks ended October 2018, Dr Reddy's said US retail sales of Prilosec OTC plus private-label omeprazole OTC products were approximately USD492 million.
Aurobindo and Perrigo already offer generic versions of Prilosec OTC in the US.
