25 November 2020 - Deborah Wilkes
CVS Health has hired Neela Montgomery – former chief executive officer of Crate & Barrel – as president of CVS Pharmacy with effect from 30 November 2020. She will oversee the company’s 10,000 pharmacies across the US.
Karen Lynch – who will become president and chief executive officer of CVS Health in February 2021 (click here to read the News story) – described Montgomery as a “seasoned retail industry leader with extensive digital and e-commerce experience”.
“She brings deep consumer insights that will allow us to better anticipate consumers’ changing needs and deliver even more value to our customers in local, personalised ways,” added Lynch.
Montgomery, who is currently a board partner at venture capital firm Greycroft, previously spent three years as chief executive officer of Crate & Barrel. During that time, the online sales channel rose to 50% of the company’s total sales.
In 2019, Montgomery was on the Top Women in Retail list which is produced by the Women in Retail Leadership Circle.
Prior to joining Crate & Barrel, Montgomery was group executive board member of German mail-order and e-commerce company Otto. She has also worked for UK-based supermarket chain Tesco.
Montgomery will report directly to Lynch as executive vice president and president of CVS Pharmacy/Retail. She replaces Kevin Hourican who left the company earlier this year.
