Bayer extends Werner Baumann’s contract

Bayer has extended the contract of its chief executive officer Werner Baumann until the end of April 2024.

The contract was due to expire at the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting on 27 April 2021.

Baumann has worked for Bayer since 1988 and has been chief executive officer since 2016 (click here to read the News story).

Norbert Winkeljohann, chairman of Bayer’s Supervisory Board, said the German company was “strategically very well positioned as a focused life science company with leading businesses in the attractive growth markets of health and nutrition”.

The Supervisory Board was “firmly convinced” that Baumann was the “right leader”, added Winkeljohann, pointing out that his “profound knowledge of Bayer’s markets, businesses, organisation and strengths are key to this”.

Commenting on the company’s goals for the Consumer Health business, Bayer said the aim was to accelerate growth.
