Grocery chain Albertsons and pharmacy chain Rite Aid have agreed to merge in a US deal that will create a combined company with 4,350 pharmacy counters and annual sales of around USD83 billion. The two retailers said the name of the new company would be decided by transaction close, which is expected early in the second half of 2018.
