Patrick Lockwood-Taylor spent around 25 years at Procter & Gamble
Bayer has appointed Patrick Lockwood-Taylor as head of its North American Consumer Health business with effect from 13 August 2018.
Lockwood-Taylor spent around 25 years at Procter & Gamble, where he rose to the position of vice president Personal Health Care North America and Global Digestive Wellness.
He joins Bayer Consumer Health from The Oneida Group, where he became chief executive officer in May 2016.
A passion for innovation
Heiko Schipper – president of Bayer Consumer Health and a member of Bayer's Board of Management – said Lockwood-Taylor had a "passion for innovation and an understanding of how to meet the needs of consumers and customers to accelerate growth".
"His diverse experience, proven track record of collaborating with retail partners and leadership in times of change make him ideally suited to lead our important North American business in a time of unprecedented industry change," Schipper added.
Lockwood-Taylor will report directly to Schipper and become a member of the Consumer Health Executive Committee. He will be based in the US at Whippany, New Jersey.
He will replace Natalie Bartner, who is leaving the company.
Struggling to achieve growth
Bayer Consumer Health is struggling to achieve growth. Worldwide sales were down by 2.2% on a currency- and portfolio-adjusted basis in the first quarter of 2018 to EUR1.41
billion (USD1.61 billion), as the division continued to experience problems in China and the US, and "temporary supply disruptions" took their toll.
Werner Baumann, Bayer's chief executive officer, said the fall was due to a "significant decline" in the Asia-Pacific region, "supply disruptions", and "continued challenges" in North America (click here to read the News story).
